Kathe Kruse (17 September 1883 – 19 July 1968) was a pioneer of German doll-making and went on to establish manufacturing principles which persist to this day.
Her original dolls remain very collectible.
Today, the dolls made by the Kathe Kruse manufacturing industry are still made by hand. The bodies are either made with muslin and stuffed with reindeer hair, or have an inner wire skeleton covered with tricot knitting. The heads are made of fabric, papier maché or polystyrene and hand painted. Many have wigs knitted from real hair or mohair.

20" (51cm) tall
This is a pretty all original Kathe Kruse doll with a hard plastic head and painted feautures, long blonde wig with plaits, pink cloth body, jointed swivel legs, and an all original outfit, socks and shoes.
Kathy Kruse dolls are usually signed with their date of manufacture on their right foot, and her signature on her left foot.
This doll has the date 5 Feb 1974 on her right foot, and Kathe Kruse printed copy of her signature on her left foot (she died in 1968).
She is dressed in her original 9 piece removable outfit which has a look of a Heidi costume.( It does show some age spots to the white fabric - see photos)
