RARE PEDIGREE HARD PLASTIC WALKER PRETTY PEEPERS EYE CHANGING COLOUR DOLL WITH JOINTED BENT KNEES IN ORIGINAL OUTFIT WITH RARE RARE ORIGINAL PEEPERS BOX SOLD SOLD
"Pretty Peepers" dolls were made for almost 3 years from 1957, and have the same knee joints as the bent knee doll with the mama box. Peepers voice box was replaced with a roller mechanism in the head activated from a chest plate that, when depressed, changed the colour of the eyes from blue to brown. The sequence went from flirting left then right, before looking forward and changing from blue to brown and repeating over again each time the plate was pressed. These knee jointed dolls are now quite difficult to find, presumably due to the short time they were in production and the number of breakable parts.
( from the well known book of British Hard Plastic Dolls of the 1940's & 1950's by Frances Baird.)

Things to be told for accuracy and honesty:
We have used our magnifying glass to check for hairlines to the face. She has the usual hairlines from both eye sockets up to her eyebrows, and some around her chin. These do not detract from her at all and may not even be picked up by our camera.
Her eye mechanism when we first purchased her were working without any problems but now probably through living on her box on her back for the past few years in Melbourne they have become a little stiff. Her eyelids close and change position underneath the eyelids but you need to physically gently lift the lid to see the eye. This is really not an issue as the eyes change as they ought to do, but with each eye change the lids close and are then meant to open up again.
Her rare outfit is in great condition.
She is wearing her white all in one onesie blouse. This has the Peter Pan collar and black rick rack around the leg openings. One of the back popper is missing at the top.
Her heart red felt dress has the black braide around the pockets, bottom of the dress and around the heart bib. It ties at the back with the original red ribbon which matches the ribbon in her hair.
She has her original white "Made in England" plastic shoes which are tied up with replacement red satin ribbons. She has her original white net socks on as well.
There appears to be no rips or tears to it anywhere, although the braide is showing a little wear but that is to be expected for vintage items.
Her original box is in excellent condition with the top of the box displaying a picture of a Peepers Doll. The lid side does show a little wear. The inside of the box still retains its cardboard supports for the doll. The end of the box states: Red dress.
A truly wonderful find for any doll collector, and also one which is hard to find anywhere in the world.
