"Pretty Peepers" dolls were made for almost 3 years from 1957, and have the same knee joints as the bent knee doll with the mama box. Peepers voice box was replaced with a roller mechanism in the head activated from a chest plate that, when depressed, changed the colour of the eyes from blue to brown. The sequence went from flirting left then right, before looking forward and changing from blue to brown and repeating over again each time the plate was pressed. These knee jointed dolls are now quite difficult to find, presumably due to the short time they were in production and the number of breakable parts.

This Pretty Peepers doll is now over 60 years old and as such is a preloved doll which is not completely perfect with the eye mechanism.
The plate when depressed changes the colour of the eyes from blue to brown, and right to left. The eye changing function tends to stick in closed position, and needs help with the opening and closing of the eyes.
She is dressed in a replica heart dress in blue cotton type of fabric, white shirt, and white panties, vintage net sockettes, and white vinyl vintage Made England shoes.
She has:
.enhanced blush to cheeks, knees, back of hands
. enhanced defined eyebrows
.replaced eyelashes to her eyes
.original red painted mouth with tongue
. two original white teeth
. original glued on honey blonde saran curly short wig
.jointed at neck, arms, knees and legs
.original 2 white teeth, and red tongue
.full head of honey blonde original saran glued on curly wig
.hairlines above both eyes, and one extends into forehead
.small hairlines to chin - see photos
. even flesh toned colour over her body, legs and arms.
.head moves with the walking action.
.knees bend and click easily into place without any trouble at all.
.repaired small part of leg seam below one knee

She looks like she has had very little playwear, but unfortunately I cannot get her eyes to change colour. At the moment the eyes are stuck at brown side glancing. Perhaps some else with a bit more knowledge than myself can get her back to working condition.

She is dressed in a new pink homemade dress, with vintage pink panties, new pink lace edged socks, and vintage white vinyl shoes.
