"Luci" is quite a tall stunning doll who looks like she is off to a special occasion with her Sunday best outfit on, and she is carrying her little leather hand painted bag.
This bag has gumleaves painted on it with the wording "Australia" on the front. The leather strap around it has the word "Joy M" on it. Inside the bag is a little red apple.
Perhaps she is off to school with an apple for the teacher?
The tag on her arm states: Luci 1927, Janet Ness 1987, Irma's Gallery
Her head has the molding symbol on the back which we cannot name.
Luci has :
.porcelain head and neck plate,
.half porcelain arms,
3/4 porcelain legs
. white stuffed cloth body.
.arms are posable and can be placed in different directions.
. face has open deep blue glass eyes and painted eyebrows.
. Lovely amount of blush on both cheeks.
.Closed pink smiling mouth .
.wig still has the tag attached to it and is size 11 and is long crimped light brown hair with a fringe.
Her outfit is of the era of perhaps 1920's and is just gorgeous.
Luci is wearing a hat called a Tamoshanta with a pom pom on the top. It is green tartan colour with a blue ribbing.
Her dress is green with red braid around the sleeves and collar. It has been sewn expertly by a seamstress. The dress has a drop waist, long sleeves and a sailor type collar. It has tiny little metal buttons on the waist and on the collar.
Her full petticoat is cream in colour and at the bottom of the hem there are two rows of pintucks and pretty lace.
She is also wearing a little camisole.
Her pantaloons are long as was the style of that era and long cream stocking socks with black Mary Jane style press studd clasp shoes.
This outfit is just so well made and such detail has gone into it.
Her wooden stand will go with her to her new home.

We have for sale a reproduction google/googly eyed little doll with the mold number of JDK 221 - BOU AUS on her head , and the writing of Doll Collection Sydney '81 with the signature of perhaps the person who made her - S Bousfield.

By far of the most highly sought after and highly prized antique dolls are the beautiful French Bebe from such makers as Jules Steiner, Jemeau, A Thulliier, Bru and others.
We believe that this may be a mold made by Seeley and she may be called Amber.
Amber has an all porcelain body.
She has:
a porcelain socket head,
porcelain arms and legs which can be moved to different directions
.strawberry blonde wig with a fringe and hair with a little turn up at the ends.
.a pate under her wig.
open brown glass eyes,
painted multi stroked eyebrows,
painted lower eyelashes,
painted pink in each nostril,
painted pouty pink lips,
.nice amount of blush to both cheeks.
.She can stand and sit by herself and poses very nicely.
She is dressed in a lovely little outfit.
Her dress is made from a cotton type fabric which has a lovely cream with blue floral print on it. It has a V collar which is cream in colour and is trimmed with lace and very fine blue satin ribbon and puffed sleeves. It is done up at the back with velcroe. She is wearing a half two layered broderie anglaise petticoat and white pantaloons which are edged with lace. On her feet are little white vinyl shoes and socks.
This doll is just lovely and if you can't afford the real thing, then this French Bebe is the next best thing for your collection.
